1 Conduct site induction and review Dial Before You Dig plans. Unawareness of underground services leading to potential strikes. H Ensure all workers are briefed on underground service locations and plans are available on site. M Site Supervisor
2 Mobilise 5-tonne excavator to the site. Collision with existing structures or personnel during mobilisation. M Use a spotter to guide the excavator into position, ensuring clear communication. L Leading Hand
3 Begin excavation of footings to a depth of 1.8 metres. Cave-ins or collapse of excavation walls. H Install shoring progressively as excavation depth increases. M All Workers
4 Monitor excavation work adjacent to existing structure. Damage to existing structure due to vibration or undermining. H Maintain a safe distance from the structure and monitor for any signs of movement or damage. M Site Supervisor
5 Use spotter to assist during excavation near underground services. Striking underground services causing service disruption or hazards. H Spotter to maintain visual contact with excavation and alert operator to any potential service locations. M Leading Hand
6 Demobilise equipment and clear site. Injury from equipment movement or site debris. M Ensure all equipment is safely shut down and debris is cleared from the site. L All Workers

In the event of injury or emergency:
1. Stop work immediately and secure the area.
2. Administer first aid if trained and safe to do so.
3. Call 000 — state the nature of the emergency, address, and number of persons injured.
4. Notify the Site Supervisor immediately.
5. Do not disturb the scene unless required to prevent further injury.
6. Record all details in the site incident register and notify SafeWork NSW within required timeframes.
